A desktop GUI for the Codex CLI

Keep GitHub issues and pull requests beside Codex threads in one desktop app. Follow repository work through the conversation, diff and review on macOS or Windows.

Key facts

Aiola supports six agent CLIs: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok CLI, OpenCode, and Antigravity.
Each thread is a Codex session with chat, diffs, branches, a terminal, and a browser.
Tasks can trigger a Codex agent and hand the result back as a pull request.

Keep GitHub work within reach of Codex

Read an issue, inspect a pull request and continue the Codex conversation in the same project.

GitHub issue actions include Analyze and Fix It. Pull requests offer Review with AI and Fix PR.

Choose a separate worktree for concurrent edits, then inspect the resulting diff.

App Logs and Feedback provide another starting point. Fix It on either report opens a thread with that context.

What is a Codex CLI GUI?

A Codex CLI GUI gives OpenAI’s command-line coding agent a graphical desktop interface. You can run it outside a bare terminal. The Codex CLI is OpenAI’s coding agent for the terminal. It plans and executes multi-step repository changes using your existing ChatGPT or Codex access. Aiola provides a window for steering Codex work across projects.

Aiola is that window. It turns the Codex CLI into a local desktop workspace across projects. Threads, a central project view and tasks coordinate agent work. App Logs, Analytics, Feedback and Automations sit around the code. Aiola provides a GUI and project tools above your existing CLI. Model access and direct editing remain with your provider and editor.

Why put a GUI on the Codex CLI

Running Codex across repositories creates context work. Track the code and each task’s project, branch and review state. Which project had which run? What did the agent change yesterday in the other app? Where's the task you meant to hand off? In a bare terminal, that state lives in your head and across tabs. Each new project adds another window to watch.

A GUI on top of the Codex CLI solves the coordination problem:

  • One window shows every project's active threads, recent changes, and pending tasks.
  • Each project has its own threads. Choose Worktree to separate working files for concurrent edits.
  • Tasks and automations let Codex keep working on a schedule instead of only when you're watching the terminal.
  • Diffs, git actions, a terminal, and a built-in browser sit next to the agent instead of in other apps.

How Aiola works as a Codex GUI

Aiola wraps the Codex CLI with the surfaces a multi-project workflow needs:

  • Threads: each thread is an independent Codex session with chat, diffs, branches, a terminal, and a built-in browser. Run several in parallel and split them side by side or lay them out on a canvas.
  • Tasks: a per-project board that can trigger a Codex agent and hand the result back as a pull request.
  • Automations: schedule recurring Codex jobs (triage, checks, summaries) that run on your machine with your own subscription.
  • GitHub, App Logs, Analytics, and Feedback: product reports and repository work beside agent threads.
  • A central cross-project dashboard so you steer all your projects, not one repo at a time.

Run Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Grok CLI, OpenCode, and Antigravity together

Aiola runs Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok CLI, OpenCode, and Antigravity in one app. Bring your own subscriptions. Pick the agent per thread or task without leaving the workspace. Use one agent for a refactor and another for a quick fix. Aiola keeps these agents beside tasks, logs and product reports across projects. Read more about how Aiola orchestrates coding agents.

When is Aiola the right Codex CLI GUI, and when is it not?

Aiola fits when Codex work spans several repositories or needs more structure than a terminal history can give it. Threads preserve each line of work, and worktrees separate working files. Tasks provide a queue; the central view shows activity across projects. Logs, feedback, analytics and GitHub help turn a shipped-product report into a scoped coding task. Keep the source context attached.

Use the bare Codex CLI for a quick prompt in one repository if you prefer terminal work. Aiola is also not a cloud runner, a model subscription, or an IDE. It will not make Codex available without OpenAI access, hide provider usage limits, or check a change for you. Keep final review, tests, migrations, and merge decisions manual. The GUI helps when you need coordination and lasting project context. A single command may be enough for a small task.

Local Codex execution and hosted reports

Aiola runs the Codex CLI on your own machine, against your own repositories. Repositories stay on your machine. Prompts and file context go to your chosen provider through its CLI. There is no cloud runner, compute resale or API-key markup. Sign in with your existing ChatGPT or Codex access. Aiola never resells compute or marks up tokens. Threads, tasks, notes and automations are stored locally. Optional Analytics, App Logs and Feedback send your shipped-product telemetry through Aiola’s cloud. Read more about how Aiola keeps your data yours.

Aiola is free to download. Hosted Analytics, App Logs, Feedback, hosted MCP and Setup Health need Pro or the 7-day trial.

Automation presets run locally while Aiola is open and the desktop is on and awake.

Use Codex on Mac or Windows

Aiola runs on macOS 12 or later (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows 10 or later (64-bit). The integrated workflow is available on both supported desktop platforms. Sign in to the CLIs you use, download Aiola and point it at your projects.

Other coding agents alongside Codex

Can I use Claude Code, Cursor, Grok CLI, OpenCode, and Antigravity too?

Aiola runs Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok CLI, OpenCode, and Antigravity in one app. Bring your own subscriptions. Pick the agent per thread or per task and switch depending on the job: without leaving the workspace.

Build, ship and fix in one app

Errors, user feedback, GitHub and analytics live next to your coding agents in one desktop app. Every issue becomes a task an agent can take.
