A desktop GUI for the Grok CLI
Ask analytics questions beside Grok CLI in one macOS and Windows app. Analyze with AI opens an analytics thread; hosted MCP exposes project reports for investigation.
Key facts
Investigate analytics with Grok beside your code
Start with a traffic question, such as which pages receive assistant referrals.
Analyze with AI opens a scoped analytics thread. Hosted MCP makes project reports available to compatible clients.
Keep the investigation beside Grok threads, repository files and diffs. Ask for supporting dates and URLs before changing code.
App Logs, feedback and GitHub provide related project records within the same desktop app.
What is the Grok CLI?
The Grok CLI is xAI’s command-line coding agent. It plans and executes multi-step changes inside a repository from your terminal. The binary is called grok. Install it with curl -fsSL https://x.ai/cli/install.sh | bash, then sign in with grok agent --reauth. Point it at a repository as you would Claude Code or Codex. It authenticates directly with the Grok service; Aiola is not a model provider or compute middleman.
Aiola discovers the models available through your installed, authenticated Grok CLI. Model availability depends on your CLI version and account.
The Grok CLI alone has no desktop view of projects, sessions and tasks. Aiola fills that gap.
What is a Grok CLI GUI?
A Grok CLI GUI adds a graphical desktop interface above the grok command-line tool. You can run xAI’s agent outside a bare terminal. For single-repo work, you type a prompt. Grok plans, edits files, and runs commands. A raw terminal makes juggling repositories, reviewing diffs and keeping browser previews beside work harder. Mixing Grok, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and Antigravity also needs coordination.
Aiola is that graphical layer. It turns Grok CLI into a local-first desktop workspace for macOS and Windows. Parallel threads, Central and tasks coordinate projects. Preset-based automations run with your existing subscriptions. Web analytics includes AI-bot crawl tracking; App Logs opens fix threads. Feedback and GSC/Bing indexing reports sit beside the code. Aiola provides a GUI and project tools above your existing CLI. Keep your editor and bring your own model access.
Why put a GUI on the Grok CLI
Running Grok across repositories, or comparing it with Claude Code and Codex, adds coordination work. You need to track the task as well as the model. Which project had which Grok run? What did the agent change yesterday in the other app? Where is the task you meant to hand off? In a bare terminal, that state lives in your head and across tabs. Each new project adds another window to watch.
A Grok CLI manager solves the coordination problem:
- One window shows every project's active threads, recent changes, and pending tasks.
- Choose Worktree mode to isolate working files for concurrent Grok sessions. Local mode runs in the project checkout.
- Queued turns let you line up follow-ups without losing context when a long run is still going.
- Sessions restore after restart, so a Grok thread you left open yesterday is still there when you reopen Aiola.
- Tasks and automations let Grok keep working on a schedule instead of only when you are watching the terminal.
- Diffs, git actions, terminal tabs, Notebook, and a built-in browser sit beside the agent.
Aiola supports Grok CLI alongside five other coding agents. A manager helps existing Grok users work beyond one repository and terminal window.
How Aiola runs the Grok CLI
Aiola wraps the Grok CLI with the surfaces a multi-project workflow needs:
- Threads: each thread is an independent Grok session with chat, file-by-file diffs, branches, a terminal, and a built-in browser. Run several in parallel and split them side by side or lay them out on a canvas.
- Git worktrees: Worktree mode isolates working files for concurrent changes. Review diffs before committing or creating a pull request.
- Tasks: a per-project board that can trigger a Grok agent and hand the result back as a pull request.
- Automations: schedule recurring Grok jobs (triage, checks, summaries) that run on your machine with your authenticated Grok CLI access.
- Agent personas and skills: reusable configurations with role, skills, and memory so Grok threads start with the right context.
- MCP server: connect tools and data sources Grok can call without leaving the workspace.
- GitHub, App Logs, Analytics, and Feedback: product reports and repository work beside agent threads.
- A central cross-project dashboard so you steer all your projects, not one repo at a time.
Install Grok with the official script, authenticate once, and download Aiola. Point it at your projects and pick Grok as the agent per thread. Aiola discovers the models available through your installed, authenticated Grok CLI. Model availability depends on your CLI version and account.
Run Grok CLI alongside Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, and Antigravity
Aiola runs Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok CLI, OpenCode, and Antigravity in one app. Bring your own subscriptions. Pick the agent per thread or task without leaving the workspace. Try Grok for a refactor, Claude Code for security review and Codex for a test fix. OpenCode can use provider access you already have. Aiola keeps these agents beside tasks, logs and product reports across projects. Read more about how Aiola orchestrates coding agents.
Aiola brings the work from separate Claude Code and Codex GUIs into one app. Six CLIs share threads, tasks, automations and Central. A Grok CLI GUI lets you mix Grok with agents you already run. That can help while the category is forming. Related: Claude Code GUI, Antigravity CLI GUI
When the plain Grok CLI is enough
Use the bare Grok CLI for a quick prompt in one repository if you prefer terminal work. Try Grok in the terminal first: install with the curl script and run grok agent --reauth. Check whether it fits your repository before adding a manager.
Aiola helps when Grok work spans repositories or needs context across sessions. It also runs beside Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and Antigravity. Threads preserve each line of work, and worktrees separate working files. Tasks provide a queue; the central view shows activity across projects. Logs, feedback, analytics and GitHub help turn a shipped-product report into a scoped coding task. Keep the source context attached.
Aiola is also not a cloud runner, a model subscription, or an IDE. Authenticated Grok CLI access and provider limits still apply. Check agent changes yourself. Keep final review, tests, migrations, and merge decisions manual. The GUI solves coordination: not judgment.
Grok access and local repositories
Aiola keeps your code and repositories on your machine. Prompts and file context go only to your chosen AI provider under your own subscription. Claude Code uses Anthropic; Codex uses OpenAI; Cursor uses Cursor; Grok CLI uses xAI; Antigravity uses Google. OpenCode uses the provider you configure. Aiola never proxies, stores, or resells your code or model traffic. Threads, tasks, notes, and automations are stored locally in SQLite and plain repository files. Optional Analytics, App Logs, and Feedback telemetry is hosted through Aiola’s cloud using Supabase and Tinybird. Aiola also uses account and billing services. Redacted diagnostic reports help identify failures. Desktop diagnostics are always on. Optional phone notifications use Expo, APNs, or FCM. They can contain thread titles, reply previews, or approval details. The agent workspace works offline; running agents requires provider access. See pricing for local GUI and hosted feature plans.
