Claude Code GUIs and alternatives (2026)

Aiola puts errors, feedback and GitHub beside Claude Code in one macOS and Windows desktop app. Compare GUIs, terminal managers and hosted alternatives for your workflow.

Key facts

Compare desktop GUIs, first-party interfaces and terminal session managers.
Check app licensing separately from Claude or other provider access.
Try one familiar change from prompt through diff review and tests.

How to choose

Choose the interface you want around Claude Code: its own surfaces, a desktop GUI or a terminal session manager. API platforms serve a different purpose: embedding agents in a product or running them as a service.

Check operating systems, current releases and deprecation notices before comparing prices. A public repository lets you inspect source; it does not establish update frequency.

Separate the app license from provider access, then test one familiar change through review and tests. Try another repository only after the first task works.

Aiola: turn product problems into agent tasks

Use Aiola when a Claude Code fix starts with an error group, feedback report or GitHub issue. Keep the evidence beside the thread, then inspect the diff and run checks. Persistent terminals, optional worktrees and Notebook support the review; local automations repeat known jobs while the desktop is awake. Central follows the work across projects.

Aiola desktop 2.0.8 runs on macOS 12+ and Windows 10+ (64-bit). There is no Linux build. It supports Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok CLI, OpenCode, Antigravity. Bring your own provider access; Aiola never resells models or adds token markup.

Per-thread Local or Worktree choice; worktrees isolate working files, not merge conflicts. Agent instructions and memory are scoped to each workspace. Hosted Analytics, App Logs, Feedback, hosted MCP, and Setup Health require Pro/trial. Worktrees separate working files, but you still need to review and merge changes.

Android is live on Google Play. Aiola for iPhone is available on the App Store.

Free download. Pro from $24/month or $240/year (100k events). GUI Lifetime $49 / $89 / $129 one-time; checkout confirms the current price. Hosted features need Pro or the 7-day trial on Pro Monthly.

Choose Aiola when…

  • Keep reports beside coding agents. Hosted features require Pro or a trial.
  • Use Tasks, Notebook, Automations and Central across projects.
  • Manage repositories with threads, persistent terminals, optional worktrees and your own provider access.
  • You want one desktop app for macOS and Windows with a phone companion available on the iPhone App Store and Android Google Play.
